Pioneer-IV Interplanetary Mission

(Part of the Pioneer program which is aimed to deliver kerbals to other planetary systems)

The goal of this mission is to land kerbals on Duna for the first time, stay for up to several months in a surface base and then return to Kerbin with a lot of science.

The  mission has two main spacecrafts:

 -The Ailes interplanetary mothership

Here's the  Ailes with no extra crafts attached to it. It has a large orange liquid fuel tank with a LV-N410 'Cherenkov'  nuclear engine. It has a large inflatable gravity ring for housing the four Kerbals on their way to Duna. It has four gigantor solar panels for electricity. In the middle theres a cargo section for housing the Chenille rover and on the front a large docking port for the Traversier lander.

This is the Traversier Duna lander. It is carried to duna by the Ailes, and then it delivers Kerbals to- and then back from the surface. It doesnt have any science experiments and it uses a cargo bay with seats for maximum delta-v. It is propelled by a single vector engine.

This is the Chenille Duna Cravler. It has all of the science experiments that the crew will need on Duna and it will transfer the Kerbals from the Traversier lander to the surface base. It is carried in the middle cargo section of the Ailes.

Full Stack:

The mothership is configured so that it can launch in just two launches (first the Ailes then the Travesier) which is a significant improvement over the Bouffi from Pioneer-III that needed six launches just to assemble it.

-And the Curiosité surface base/lab

Pioneer-IV - Launch 1 (Ailes)

Spoiler

The Ailes lifts off the pad onboard the giant Ares-1L (it's light because originally it had a second stage but it doesnt need that) rocket. The rocket is made out of a 3.75 core with 5 Vector engines, and two cross-fed boosters with 4 Vector engines.

Booster sep, and the extra engine lights on the core. It was needed because the rocket had a too low twr without it after booster sep.

Core and fairing sep.

After the Core decouples the Ailes has a Periapsis of ~65km so it raises it's orbit wit it's main engine. The two (totally-not-accidentally-launched) engineers inflate, and start the gravity ring.
