To the devs...some info

I am a bit late to the old/new forums so I am not sure whether someone has touched on this, but whilst the forums were down a few of us were spending some time on the Steam forums and quite a number of new gamers came around to the lightside. Anyway, some of them were having problems with the game not loading / crashing and the issues seemed to be pretty much the same. (Apart from the Mac/Linux ones). You guys should hop on over there or alternatively we could just give you a quick rundown if needed to help you improve the game.

It appears a lot of people are struggling with memory and or 32-bit Windows. The 2Gig mem and 32-bit requirement does not appear to be adequate. Some of them switched to 64-bit windows and instantly their problems were gone. (I am talking about crashes and not loading and the like). Also, I am sure you are aware that a lot of Antivirus programs are causing the game to "malfunction" in some way. Maybe you should just add a clear notice somewhere that AV software needs to be disabled in the meantime (as a possible solution for those having problems) until the issue with Unity has been recitified. (Yes, I know, there is an unreleased build of Unity that solves the AV issue).

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Feel free to move this post to a more appropriate place if needed.

I've also noticed, not sure if it's the same for Mac but My Notebook running Ubuntu doesn't meet the system requirements stated and runs fine.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 x64 with a 2.20GHZ Intel Celeron 900 CPU 4GB of RAM, 3.7GB available to the System with the rest being used by the Integrated Mobile Intel GM45 Express Graphics card.

I do have to wonder about the 2-gig minimum limit. I think this was acceptable in prior KSP versions, but post 0.18.4, it's been really hard-hitting on memory usage. On my system (Win7-64, 4GB of RAM), I commonly see KSP using 1.4GB or more. If it was competing with the OS for memory, I am sure things would get crashy soon enough.

Apparently, from what I hear, the switch to Unity 4 traded speed-ups in the game for more memory usage. But that's just anecdotal, I have no hard data to back that up.
