So, after eight hours hours of nonstop clicking, swearing, and facepalms, I managed to put this bad boy into LKO. It took around a dozen launches to construct, and is part of my goal to do the impossible: Build an kilometer long space station.

Okay, if you are going to create a kilometer long station, keep the part count low.

That's amazing! How long are each of the Hitchhiker containers? I've always assumed they were 3m tall.

So, its 188 parts, and is 1/10th of a kilometer. But considering the scales and such, IRL, it might as well be a kilometerlong station.

Not much, but I'm going to add. extension. But yet agian, my computer has one of the best graphics card aviable on the market.

Its around 200 meters. Not a kilometer. But I am planning another station, one that will destroy any computer except the supercomputer from NASA that the KSP servers are run on.

Wow... what processor do you have that it doesn't lag? My experience is that lag is based less on the GPU and more on the CPU speed. I can turn graphics all the way up and it still lags at the same part counts as when I have graphics turned all the way down.

Currently working on extension. Launched to orbit. Extended the extension. Decoupled communication array to make way for docking port. Tommorrow, I will dock two of these.

Eventually, unfortunately you will reach the end of Unity's physics handling capability and no matter how good your computer is, it will still lag. Even still, cool space station.

I'm currently writing a story where Kerbin is attacked by the "International Space Fleet" from a star 11 LY away from a spieces of aliens who now reside on the third and fourth planets while living on the moons of the next two. The KMO is coverted to a massive laser cannon, and manages to destroy a human ISV, but is ultimately destroyed by a concentrated assault from the human spaceplanes.

Just saying, a modern phone of today has more computing power, than the computer that sent Neil and Buzz on the moon.
