Spaceplane troubles

Recommended Posts

Yeah. Agree. But some people go nuts and put 5:1 or more. I suspect Squad will do something about that one day.

Yeah, I imagine there will be weighted IntakeAir values at some point. Divide the number of intakes by the number of engines, and assign the individual intakes an efficiency percentage on a curve so that individual intakes become less effective as the total number of intakes per engine increases.

Well I successfully got the plane into space and orbiting. However I ran out of fuel before I could hook up with my station. I run out of liquid fuel before oxidiser it seems, so I added 2 jet fuel fuselages, but still run out (I get within 100m/s of the station). I currently have 3 Engine Nacelles (more air intake and looks purdy lol) but would replacing them with fuel tanks be better?

That' very interesting. My new spaceplane Ariel behaves quite good in atmo - i can easily get 1000+ m\s and more than 18000 m altitude using two turbojets and two ram intakes. But single aerospike i use for orbital insertion eats the fuel well before i have the chance to circularise. Maybe i do have too many parts onboard - i'll try to remove solar panels, some lights etc. BTW: Mechjeb lists my TWR as 2.3 - what is the optimal value? If lower (say, slightly less than 2) i could add more rocket fuel.
