Help with setting up a space station.

Hello everyone, I have recently been watching Scott Manley's Resuable Space Program videos (

) and I have been trying to sort of copy what he's doing because its really cool and if I can copy his stuff I can see how it works and use it in my own way. I have a pretty good copy of his to-orbit vehicle and his space station crew cabins, I just can't figure out how to fly the damn thing to space. I'm sort of a beginner to KSP, can barely make it to Mun in one piece, let alone make it back, but what he's been able to do is really cool and I want to make something like it on my own.
