Goin' 3D - Lastest: Kerbin Rise

Hay ! My second fan-art thread for me, since this picture doesn't fit my GIMP Space Art thread, because it is done entirely in Blender 2.65 and Internal Render:

The 2K image is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98670603/KSP/spaceart/Kerbin-rise_2K.png

The 1080p one took ~16min to render, while the 2K one took ~25min. Rendered Mun's surface, Kerbin and its atmosphere separately, then put together using the Nodes Editor (how powerful are they ^^)

What did you use for your Kerbin texture?

Sorry for late reply (didn't saw the comments ...)

First, the blurry mun land is the Lens Distortion effect (Nodes Editor). I took a sample directly from the bump map of the surface, so it looks blurry. I wanted a "Apollo 8" style render, with the surface and the planet behind.

Which may explain the incorrect lighting (thanks gmpd2000, I saw my error here). I put the light so the planet has this phase. What I should have done is put everything like normal, then rotate the camera: bam, everything's fine.

I didn't really like the render of the landscape too, but this as the best I can do for "in-game reality" accuracy. I'll try to combine bump map and custom generated features next time.

But I thank you everyone to write down these comments, and I appreciated that you liked the render !

One last thing: all the texture were found by a simple <body> map on Google Image search (ie "Kerbin map", or "Mun bump map" for the elevation map of it)
