How do you load downloaded ships into KSP on steam?

I might know how to do it but I don't want to screw anything up. Do you just put the file into ships folder?

Yes you just put them into the steam/steamapps/common/ksp and so on... folder

Well, there is actually different Ships folders. There is the generic folder that you see but there is also another Ships folder in your saved games. This folder holds all the ships you built in that game. But if you want to use new ships in all games, you put them in the main Ships folder.

Well the main purpose of the ships folder is for examples as they can't be deleted or saved over, but you could use them for multiple profiles if you didn't want to copy the main ships directory over each time.
