What is Rise Of The Kraken?

It is a full length (90 minute) kerbal space program movie.

What is it about?

Kerbalkind has begun a war with each other, throwing every thing they got into the war, they forgot that one thing they thought was gone... still lives.

Who is involved in this project?

Currently, the list is

When can we expect you to finish this?

Okay, really though, it could be done in anywhere from a month to 3 months.

But I am aiming for a release on June 15th 5:00 PM CDT

Lots of mods, so many, it will be in the video credits.

Will you release any teasers/trailers?

Ill release a trailer once i'm near completion of the project.

And the only teaser I plan on releasing is this one.

If you can give me some, then yes.

Yes i did, i don't really have a excuse for this.

Can I have a better story explanation?

Kerbin, a blue glistening jewel in the sea of the universe. Home to the Kerbal's, Kerbin has been a location of dreams. Many believe it is peaceful, even with all the explosions that happen daily around the space center. However, the rival nation of the Kerbal Space Program, The Kerbal Federation Society, is determined to overthrow the space program we all know and love. A war has begun and set something else in motion, something the Kerbals would never of expected. Something we all thought was defeated, something that could destroy us all. If it had the spark to start it's fire. This war was all it needed. Now the end is coming, the Kerbal's may realize this too late, and all will be lost.

Good:

The camera work on the launch sequence was superb.

Interesting plot

Bad:

A lot of the camera work during the Minmus scene could use improvement. (Try not to move the kerbals while the camera is moving)

The big BANDICAM.com logo spoiled any immersion I had.

I felt lost until the scene where there was any speaking.

Text to speech? Really?

I hope I wasn't too much of an ass there, I really want this made, but there is are for improvement. :)

I will not do any more of that, kerbals + kerbcam = no. And it was my first time using kerbcam, so I still needed to get better at it, following scenes will be better. :)

One thing I've pondered that I should put into Kerbcam is allowing a chosen vehicle/object to be the focus for the camera's position, rather than the active object. I've not looked into how difficult this would be. (probably mostly just finding out how more KSP internals work)

Edit: So I've gone and implemented that and released KerbCam v0.6. Hope that helps!

I was actually really impressed by the ending voice over. You could hardly tell it was text to speech.

Anyway, I tried to decode that little SSTV signal of yours, but I couldn't generate an image. Though it's awfully short and I think I've heard it before on like freesound.org or something. Is it actually an image or is it some stock stuff?

It is a image I turned into a SSTV.

Just said image is very weird text and nearly impossible to read.

Hey Cooly, I've got an interesting idea, and one I think has actually been used before.

Instead of text-to-speech, record it being said, pitch it up, and reverse it? ;P

That's what we are doing, Pluto100 is doing the voice and pitching and reversing it, then I edit it in to the video.

Also add some noise (just with low volume) and save the sound as a .mp3 with a low bitrate (~64-8kbps) for extra realism.

Sorry for a lack of updates.

I have decided that July 1st will be the Final Release date for Rise Of The Kraken (If we miss June 15th)

And in one of my more recent videos (MINECRAFT?!) I talked a bit about ROTK and a bit of updates about it.

The Rise Of The Kraken stuff begins at around 1:55 in the video.

Thanks for all the positive feedback on this. :)

And now, for the bad news.

Since 0.20 was released, many plugins I had and needed for ROTK don't work.

In other words, work on ROTK is postponed until these mods get updated to 0.20. :(

I really don't want to say this, but here goes...

Since Rise Of The Kraken has been a free time project, I decide when I want to record it, which isn't often.

I enjoy recording stuff I, well, have fun recording.

I don't have fun recording ROTK.

It's a lot of time setting things up, making camera paths, recording, and such.

I also have been having trouble recording such as having sets being deleted and game crashes because of "Out Of RAM" issues.

I also have some other projects I want to do, such as Episode 3 of my lego stop motion I work on, and a unnamed Garry's Mod video.

So as much as I hate to say this, and as much as I know that everyone will hate me for this, Kerbal Space Program - Rise Of The Kraken is POSTPONED until a later date.

I'm sorry.

But on a good note, you will see more videos from me at least. :)

(Who am I kidding :/)

Mods can you please lock this thread until further notice.

just a word of adive or filming, oyu may already have though of it, but ive found that its a great idea to make a "camera rover" if get the VDM or other hull cam mods, and combine it with the dam robatics mod, you can build a rover mounted with cameras with multiple degrees of freedom. you can film independent of any rover or kerbal. alows for VERY smooth filming. i use it for high speed flybys and launch filming (messing around with recreating an abridged halo reach in kerbal..) just an idea to give you a hand. looking forward to the development of this.
