Which is better? Standard Canards or AV-R8 Winglets?

I would dearly like to know, because I am designing a rocket to get a satellite into orbit (for my next KSP video). In my test rocket launch, the standard canards worked fine. If the AV-R8 winglets are better, I would use them instead. If they aren't, I will stick with the standard canards. I don't want to have two KSP videos with failed missions in a row.

They may have different stats, but which one will be "better" depends on a lot of variables. I mean, which one is better, a Mainsail or an LV-N?

By better I mean "which is best at maneuvering the spacecraft in the atmosphere?"

They should be about the same. They have similar surface areas and deflection angles.

Where you place them is a lot more important than which one you pick. The further back you can get them, the better.
