TheHengeProphet
It logs lateral movement only, relative to the surface. This means that any vertical velocities are not taken into account of the measurement. That's the extent of it, to my knowledge.

Mr. Speed
I did this in one of my favourite jets, the Viper F1, back in 0.22 but I forgot to actually post it. It just barely made it!Javascript is disabled. View full album Edited February 8, 2014 by Mr. Speed
TheHengeProphet
So... is this a .22 entry, or a .23 entry?
Claw
So I started out going for a fancy looking jet, but ended up with this little bottle rocket.Javascript is disabled. View full albumI removed all monopro from the capsule so it wasn't possible to use in any way. No staging or jettison of any parts. Maximum speed 2364.1 m/s before I ran out of gas. Edit: Oh I forgot. I was going to name it Streak, but that name doesn't seem to fit this one. So I think I just go with the Bottle Rocket! Mr. Speed
So... is this a .22 entry' date=' or a .23 entry?[/quote']it's .22 entry, you can see in the pics there is no monoprop capacity inside the cockpit. I think I'm also gonna give it a go in .23, the intakes seem to hold out significantly longer now. Kinda weird how sometimes the intakeair resource indicator shows zero while engines are running full power.
Extemporary
I figured that since nobody was submitting anything to the unmanned category, I'd toss something together quickly. Yes, there is some mod stuff visible, but none of them would do anything to affect performance. The craft itself is stock.Javascript is disabled. O-Doc
I just updated to 0.23. I could probably get another 2-3m/s easy. Oh wellz...Javascript is disabled. View full album2375m/s!

Lesbiotic
My submission to the machingbird challenge: OrithyiaStock, Wingless, wheeless, single jet, manned speed planeNothing too fancy about the designA little tricky to take off without wheels but it worksOff she goes!A proper flight pic (sorry the former wasn't convincing enough)First speed run! But i must try for more..She topped out at 2377 m/s! I'm sure there's a way to go faster! Edited March 10, 2014 by Lesbiotic
Ambisinister
So I was looking through the forums, again, and saw this. I thought, "this sounds like a job for the Flying Rock". Little rock created for m1sz's "Fastest Plane under 1km" challenge.Javascript is disabled. View full albumClean and simple with no intake stacking.Full stock (I happen to have Kerbal Joint reinforcement installed, but with such a small plane and the strut added there it shouldn't matter. But it's OP's decision). Edited March 10, 2014 by Ambisinister
TheHengeProphet
Wow, I'm surprised to see a new entry!Now... While the design seems a bit sketchy, I'll admit it is possible to finagle the construction to do such, so I'll accept that. The problem comes in that I can not reasonably consider the second screenshot to be "flight". Do you have or can you get a screenshot that isn't the craft on impending oceanic collision? Ambisinister
Updated the album to include a twin-ramjet version that brushed 2300m/s Not sure what you mean by "flight", by the way, but I think the 9th image and from 16 onwards count as flight? All the intake stacking. wowIn case you couldn't tell I have nearly 0 experience with spaceplanes so sorry Edited March 10, 2014 by Ambisinister

Lesbiotic
Since I mistakenly thought I deleted my post while trying to add the flight pic I ended up doing a new one of a different run. I had no idea it sometimes takes hours for noobie posts/edits to get approved with seemingly no indication it ever existed! It's the same craft from my original post but has 6 more air intakesOrithyiaOn runway (moving)Time to pull up!Goin up!Gaining altitude and not crashing into the water!Time to pick up speedFinal result! 2377 m/s Edited March 10, 2014 by Lesbiotic

godefroi
Well, I decided I should run a challenge, and since I'd already built a fast plane (and lots of fast crashes), I figured, hey, I can hit 2056, I think.Javascript is disabled. Bloodyserenity
Hey guys. Took a quick stab at this with a plane that I couldn't get to fly at all lol... So - here is my deal. It's called "Geezer"On the Runway - Moving.Up, up, and away!Slow and steady.... Top speed before running outta fuel.EDIT: Forgot to say that it's Stock parts and obviously unmanned....for now.... Koolkei
had to do it twice.... even then the engine fell off on landing, it was pretty rough, the plane design itself isn't bad. im just a horrible pilot...anywayJavascript is disabled. View full albumshould be "more heat insulators needed", "precision landing"and freaking ***** im just 50 sec off the 40min mark >it was design to be as low drag as possible, so it need to be fast to fly.(70m/s for takeoff, 200m/s minimum cruise speed @1000m).... thus the need for high speed at landing thus the reason it was rough and the engine broke offupdate:righti forgot to tell the name.... i think i named it the 'C-Nagator'an entry for another challenge. i was pretty limiting in the plane capabilities, such as, carried more fuel than what was needed, and need to stay under 70k alt.another thing.... doesn't abuse the ram air intake usage and used only 1 engine for 3 tanks worth of fuel (if emptied of course it would be significantly faster)
