Ksp lag issues

This thread is for people to post their lag problems on and others to attempt to help them. I can't personally help people becuase I don't know quite how to fix some common issues but yeah, this is a thread for lag issues.

There's so many lag issues it's simply far easier to confine each person to their own thread, or else it becomes far too confusing to try to remember who had exactly which problems and who has and hasn't posted the required information.

Can you please upload a DxDiag.txt and the output_log.txt file from the KSP_Data folder to http://www.pastebin.com/ ?

Most "lag" in KSP is caused by the CPU bottlenecking on physics calculations.

In the settings there is a slider called Max Physics Delta Time, sliding it to the right will slow down the simulation and give you a slightly better framerate.

Other than that, there's nothing you can do except buy a better processor. Even the fastest modern processors reach a point where they choke with KSP though because it doesn't have proper multi-core support.

repeat so i can understand sorry i dont know a lot about technical stuff but also how i can fix?

Most programs are like a 4 lane highway. cars can travel in all 4 lanes at once and traffic flows smoothly.

KSP forces 4 lanes worth of cars into one lane, like a construction zone. Except this construction zone never ends and there is traffic for all eternity.

The thing is, even the best laptops these days will still struggle with KSP. It's not really designed for laptops, although Squad do what they can to make it playable. Laptops almost always have terrible cooling systems due to their compact size which severely restricts airflow, making the processor and graphics card overheat far more easily. As a result, laptop hardware has to be limited such that it doesn't use too much power or simply overheat from the strain of trying to process all the data. One thing you can try is changing the power options to High Performance whilst you play KSP. It might help a little.

Another thing to look. If you have the ISA Mapsat Mod installed, Turn off its mapping functions when you're not actually flying a mapping probe. It can cause lag because the plugin is active. Also turn it off before you launch something with a ISA mapping dish installed as it will cause the game to lag and stutter.
