capsule separation

Is there a mod to make separable capsules? By that I mean, say you have a probe, and want to cover it for the orbital ascent, then jettison the covering capsule once you've reach space.

One of the youtube videos I saw this in was

. You can see him pop the capsule off at 1:21. I think there's a mad out there somewhere, but I can't find it via search, probably because I don't know the right keywords.

Ah, you want fairings, not a capsule. Several mods include fairings (KW rocketry, probably Nova Punch, and many others), and there's the Fairing Factory for full on custom fairings.

Yes, a little research tells me that's exactly what I want. I had no idea what the term was.

I love the fairings from KW Rocketry. You should give them a try! Just download the pack, and delete everything but the fairings. (You should keep the other parts too, they're great for lifters and are well balanced!)
