problems with parts over scaled?

I have successfully created a rocket motor in 3ds max 10x the scale of the ksp parts, and in the .cfg I set the scale to 0.1. Is there an issue with scaling parts a lot? Even though I use the stock nuclear engine .cfg (changed names and stuff) it does not do anything, even in space.

First of all, keep scale at 1.0. You should be changing rescaleFactor instead. If you don't have it add it.

Second of all, you need to add a thrustTransform in Unity to tell KSP where the thrust comes out of.

How i do it is, in 3dsmax i have 1 unit = 1 meter. Export to unity and change the scale factor in the inspector/model section to 1.25. The parts then get exported to mu files at their correct size when all part GROUPS are put to scale x=1, y=1 and z=1 in the hierachy
