Need to add a part to my station in orbit

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!!!

First post here....

So I've been enjoying KSP and mods to boot.

Annnnnd I'm learning...learning from mistakes as we all do.

My problem is my space station that I'm beginning and have in a perfect 100k geo orbit around Kerbal, I forgot to add one docking clamp as you'll see highlighted in the picture below

I don't care how it gets done whether its craft file editing or some mod that can add it on.

But without it I'm kinda stuck in adding to my station for future use.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to add the docking clamp to that node?

Thank you so much in advance for the help :)

First, undock the module of the station that has the problem, back it up a bit from the station, and then go to space center (don't hit end flight!). Rebuild the module in the VAB with the docking port correctly attached and then put it on the launchpad (also, stick some detachable RCS to control it in space.). Then, hit F5 to quicksave. Then, go into the quicksave.sfs and find the ship that is in orbit by your station. Then, copy all of the flight data that goes with that and then find the ship on the launchpad. Replace the data of the one on the launchpad with the one in orbit, and then change the data of the one in orbit so they don't collide, and then go back into KSP and then press F9 to quickload. Make sure you make a backup of the persistence file before you do this.

Specifically, of the information in your orbiting vehicle, you want to save the parts in bold. If you retain that and copy all of the remaining information from the vessel on the launchpad into into the broken vessel, it should work perfectly.

There are other alternatives involving adding a single part to the vessel, but that's a real pain in the butt to do.

Those were great ideas, except I just attached the 6 hub to the pod and didn't give it a docking clamp....learned my lesson for future launches but I don't have the ability to detach that part.

I suppose I could get my tug and take the whole core away but thats a lot to move...let me know what you think

here is my persistent file if anyone wanted to look at it
