Hello, the first: sorry for my english, I'm spainish, and the second (the important): When you read this, you know something that change all:

0- How to cheat the game, it's easy.

1- Enter in your KSP directory, and then go to parts.

2- Select a motor, liquid tank... (in this chase motor).

3- Click on the .CFG file and when the pc ask you for the program that opens it selec note bloc.

4- Go to the end and search max power or max thurst sorry I don't remember, change the number, fo example: max(Power, Thurst): 50 and you change 500 for 750.

5-When you open the game, the motor have more power, but consume the same than before.

***NOTE***::: This utility is very good with ION motors.

This is the very basics of .cfg editing/modding, something most people know how to do, and, whilst useful as a fun experiment, this is really "cheating".

It's a sandbox game, so by all means, do what you want with it, but if you want to learn how to play the game properly, then use the balanced values provided by the developers.

In my opinion, one should learn to play the game without mods, as they often allow too much room for error in terms of fuel, or are just blatantly overpowered.

That is wrong, increasing thrust will increase fuel consumption by the same percentage.

Yes, but in the module of propellants, in the section ratio, you only need change the number to 0.1.

It makes that the motor consumes less, yes, it lose more fuel, but if is relative, the consume doesn't change.

Only for massless resources like electricity when used alongside a resource with mass like Xenon, otherwise the ratio just determines the split between the fuel types and changing the magnitude shouldn't have an effect.

Propellant use is per unit of thrust/sec or something close to this. Actually I could really use a good explanation of this myself but, overall, if you increase the thrust cap on a motor it's going to burn through the fuel faster.

So modding of this sort will give you better TWR but your dV should remain the same.
