Save file editing a ship in space back to the VAB

Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to convert a vessel in the persistence file back into a craft file for modification in the VAB.

I suspect it will be necessary to cut out all the position info, (crew will have been evacuated) but is there anything else that would make a craft in persistence different from one saved as a craft file?

My motivation for doing this is adding parts to a "building" my Mun base. I just downloaded a life support mod, and have been phasing in the parts as I replace older missions with new. The problem is the base was ment to be permanent.

The other problem is each "building" was made by modifying one default design, and wasn't saved individually, so I can't just reload then and hyperedit them to where the originals are.

I would like to make it so it looks like they didn't change. Would copying from the persistence to make a craft file work?

Your advice and expertise will be greatly appreciated.

Nope, it's not. If you look at the .craft files, you'll see that they are put together substantially differently from the vessel information you find in the persistence file. Would it be possible to write something that could do the conversion? Of course. Is it practical? Nope.
