Legacy: Journey to Infinite and Beyond

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

For almost all of Kerbal-kind, everyone looked up to the stars of the night and were curious and said, "Are we alone?", "Is heaven up there?", "Are the gods really in the sky?", "Why is Jebediah acting like the Space Kraken?" (except the last one.). Sax Man Aeronautics vows to fulfill everyone's Curiosity by launching the Legacy Program, a Program meant to look to the stars, on a humongous scale. This, by far, would be the most audacious journey Kerbans have ever did since landing on the Mun.

Prologue: Launch day

1597307-S77JOM2.png

It is the big day for the Legacy Program, as Sax Man Mission Control has finished refueling the large Ardus I rocket, as well as putting final touches, tests, and activating Legacy I's Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator (MMRT), which can generate power from the heat of the many of the Legacy I's instruments, as well as having RTG's installed. The Countdown of the launch starts with T-1:00.

"Tee minus 1 minute."

One minute later..

"T minus 10

9..

8..

7..

6..

5.."

"Main Booster start."

"4..

3..

2..

1.."

"Main Engine start."

"0, and Liftoff at 15:43 hours, with Ardus I carrying Legacy I, seeking clues to the interstellar puzzle about the realm of the Galaxy and beyond."

With the Launch clamps releasing the rocket, the Ardus I rocket screams extremely loud with its Griffon XX engines and its X-5 "Thor" SRB's. It roars loudly as it flies through the sky, even people from miles away can still witness it.

Even with the public viewing it as a successful launch, Mission control grows very anxious about the Rocket's stability, as well as the temperature of the Griffon XX, and the success of the staging/decoupling of the SRB's and the first stage.

At Mission control, the head of the mission, Henry Kerman, says the status of the rocket.

"Currently at a velocity of 102 meters per second, we should hit the Sound barrier via a couple of seconds."

"Engine status nominal, SRB's consuming much fuel. Velocity growing to approximately 250 meters per second. "

"Hitting Sound Barrier and initiate gravity turn via 90 degrees heading and 60 degrees pitch on my mark, MARK."

As the Rocket reaches about 10,000 meters, it does a gravity turn to get into low Kerbin Orbit.

About a minute later..

"SRB's low on fuel, preparing decouple stage."

"Bingo fuel, detach the SRB's on my mark..

MARK."

"Lower stage fuel deprived, detaching."

And with the press of a button, the lower stage is decoupled and then Separatons bring it back to Kerbin. The Upper stage, with an Orbit-capable Wildcat XR engine, starts and begins to make a full orbit around Kerbin.

"Thank goodness for Mechjeb. Without it, we wouldn't even get this sucker off the ground in the first place." Henry says in relief as Mission control cheers minorly for it being in low Kerbin orbit.
