Change ships without going into tracking station

When I undock from a space station and want to control the ship I just undocked I have to go to the tracking station and then select my ship in order to take control.

Is there a way to take control of a ship which I just undocked? Double click + key or similar?

That would be the "[" and "]" keys on your keyboard.

If you're still close to the other ship, just use the bracket keys [ or ] to cycle between ships.

Pressing the [ and ] keys will change your vessel between the nearest vessels within 2.5km, but if you're on the map you can double click a ship to take control of it, I believe.

You can also use the Haystack plugin to switch between ships that are too far away for [ & ] to work.

I wouldn't use map with a double click to change ships, as it has a habit of making the planets and moons texture disappear, or turn into a blue/white circle.

If the ship is too far away, then you have to double click in map view to switch vessels, which if it doesn't work, just mash click on the target until you switch over to it.
