[Help] Synchronous Orbits

Recommended Posts

I am using the Remote Tech mod and I am trying to build a communication system above Duna. I know that the best way to do this put a series of satellites into geosynchronous orbit. The problem with that is the geosynchronous orbit of Duna is inside the sphere of influence of Ike, so eventually my satellites get captured and the comm system breaks. And whenever I put a series of satellites into a non-geosynchronous orbit they will eventually drift apart and no longer provide coverage for Duna. ( I have tried using hyperedit. It works wonders for geosynchronous orbit but for anything else the velocities are not consistent enough keep the satellites in formation. ) Does anybody have any ideas that could help?

In order to assure that satellites don't drift too far relative to each other in their orbits, it is important that their semi-major-axis (SMA) match.

Same SMA means same orbital period.

Scott Manley said this in one of his videos.

Edit: I postet something that might help: link
