Editing parts in the persistence file

So I have this modular interplanetary ship in orbit. It's using 2.5m docking ports from a mod, which are very thin. Turns out I have mounted the docking port on one of the sections with it's "docking" face facing the ship.

How can I edit it in the persistence file to turn the port to face the other way?
