Steam Workshop

They have spaceport and adding workshop would only split the modding community. The only problem is that spaceport is a pain to navigate and find what your looking for. Although a new update posted today says they are sorting it out as we type. :)

Why does the Steam Workshop and the Spaceport need to be mutually exclusive?

I don't think they need to.

I understand the reasoning behind their solution and quite frankly I find Spaceport to be way more elegant than Steam Workshop.

I also understand the limitations of the workshop and why it's not the route that's being focused on.

HOWEVER there is one "slight" detail everyone might be forgetting about Steam Workshop, and that's the ability to share with others.

You may not be able to add ALL the mods to the workshop, due to it's limitations, but people get to share their mod collections with each other, this ends up bringing more attention to the game and usually not in a bad way.

Many people have spoken about multiplayer in kerbal (I know it's a taboo topic but please hear out my reasoning), many have argued against it with valid reasons, but I think most of those people fail to see why multiplayer is "wanted". It's the ability to SHARE your creations and your world with others. This is as valid for your ingame creations as it is for mods.

A platform to do it on would help and I believe Steam excels at being a platform where you can share your creations and accomplishments with others. It also allows for any user that's logged into Steam to pretty much comment on your screenshots or mods, thus getting easily in touch with the author. This is important in my opinion.

Also the ability to share our designs through Steam Workshop would be a stellar addition as well.

Steam workshop support could work alongside Spaceport. It does allow for easy installation, update and removal of mods quick and easily though your game naturally needs to be restarted. Other games have implemented this alongside their own mod system, I don't see why Steam Workshop should be shunned just because spaceport is being worked on.

Why can't they co-exist? Sharing is caring :D
