[Showcase] Post Your Manned Rover/Car Thread

Recommended Posts

Since one of the features of .20 is seats, now we can make proper manned vehicles and cars. So show off your creations.

I'll start with mine, the Yolainian Sky Department (YSD)-Minor Buggy, 0.57 tons, 11 parts (not including the clamp to keep it from rolling), includes three cramped seats, a headlight, and a solar powered motor with Z-400 energy storage. It is meant as a compact, cheap Munar rover with a low enough speed to prevent going airborne while having a high enough speed to get your Kerbals places. Do not make sharp turns. (Warning: Has not been tested off Kerbin, use at your own risk.) :P

Looks similar to mine, with the underslung medium battery. Although mine has such deluxe features as a probe body for recovery/self destruction and RCS to flip it should it roll and not fall apart.

New, from Paradigm Industries (formerly Silverlight Solar Solutions), the JN-5 DunaBuggy! Isn't our marketing department so creative and witty?

6JITasxl.jpg

The JN-5 was originally built as a high-impact, long range terrestrial rover for scientific missions to Duna and beyond. However, when Jebediah spotted the drone in the proving grounds, he demanded that he be able to "Ride Johnny Five". So we slapped a few metal tubes, two foot pedals, and a pair of non-functional doohickeys on the top, and Jeb was none the wiser.

Here's the JN-5 demonstrating its off-road capabilities. To the extreme. Dude.

Do not, under any circumstance, allow Jebediah to attempt turning the probe at over 20m/s. It's not pretty.

Now with 62% more craft file!

Also posting in the regular rover thread, just in case this one gets locked for being redundant.

You guys all have some pretty cool rovers, but may I present to you, brand new from Kerbal Industries, the Mun-class rover/car! Very fast and very maneuverable, made to get your kerbals anywhere on mostly any planet in a fly! (Not rated for anywhere else but Kerbin  ) The Mun-car was also made in mind to be aesthetically pleasing! It comes complete with two seats, two headlights, a probe module for unmanned driving, two batteries plus two solar panels and a thermal generator for nearly infinite power! Plus scientific equipment and RCS to get itself out of sticky situations! Oh, and how could I forget, two cup holders! :D

Tell me what you guys think of it, and if needed, ill post the file for you all! :)

Just a quick question. I downloaded your craft files, and it seems that forward is backward and vise versa. Is this a feature? When I first used it I hit the W key and was like "its falling off the runway" Other than that, its epic, I use it for my land rescue missions.

Is there a delivery vehicle for the trikes? I've tried a couple things, like Subassembly loader to try to put it in a payload bay for Devogen's Pegasus, using KAS to put it in other payload bays, strapping it to the side of a rocket, strapping it to the top of a rocket, things like that, but Subassembly loader doesn't let me attach it to anything since the root part has no free nodes, KAS and the payload bay flipped the frac out, and building a rocket below it left me still needing to somehow get it on to Mün without it exploding. Any tips, tricks, or hints?

The Khaos Kart. 99.9% indestructible, so long as you have a 3 star engineer to fix the wheels once in a while.

Seats 2.

Self-propelled up to 22 m/s on wheels only.

Can withstand crashes up to (possibly exceeding) 80 m/s.

Powerful SAS and a system of landing struts can push it upright from any situation, on Kerbin or Mun.

I've also recently made the mk 2 version, which I call the Khaos Turbo. No pics of that one yet, but it has a winch (KAS), slightly more durable design, better SAS, and twin monoprop boosters. It will only seat 1.
