So, today I was at JFK airport with a long layover. I have KSP installed on my laptop, so what better way to pass the time than play? While playing,* a group of 4 kids (probably about 12 years old) started watching me and asking what the game was. So, I explained KSP to the best of my ability, and I am pretty sure they've been bugging their parents to buy the game for them the rest of the day. So, I'm going to wager I'm doing my civic duty and spreading the good word.

*At that point I had been awake for approximately 30 hours due to a cross-country red eye flight prior to landing at JFK. This proved to be quite an interesting experiment on the effects sleep deprivation has on spacecraft control (and mission planning. And spacecraft design). Needless to say, KASA now has new strict regulations on the amount of rest required prior to missions and maneuvers. Anyway, that's a totally different story, I guess.

Sorry, no screenshots. They weren't exactly on my mind at the time.

Try sucking down three Martinis and playing. Sounds like a plan for tonight.

Same here. I'm going to substitute beer for the martinis. I don't like gin. I'm going to take an educated guess and say it won't end well. :P

Forgive me for being a bit of a prick when I say that I really don't want too many twelve year olds coming in here.

Speaking as the socially awkward 15 year old that I am, most of the 12 year olds at my school have the same attention span as an gnat.

I do not want the forums to turn into the minecraft ones.

Most of the teens I know thought that the Xbox one was the next big thing in gaming.

I don't think that's really a good attitude to have, personally. KSP is a great game, so why deny access to people just because of their age? There is no multiplayer function, so we aren't going to have to deal with the people that plague the CoD games. If that behavior spills over to the forums, well, that's why there are forum mods.

And thats what I with my 23ys think about 15 years old ones.

And thats what the guy with 36 thinks about me.

Do the maths ;)

At the very end, age doesn't specify if you can behave mature or be polite.

Get off ma'h lawn you young whipper snappers! *shakes fist*

Seriously though. It's really more behaviour and attitude than it is age.

I've met plenty of people 30+ that acted worse than 12 year olds as far as 'online social behaviour'.

Excellent. The more people that know about KSP the better. Well done to the OP for "doing his civic duty and spreading the word".

Considering some of the other forums that I post on I would have to say that younger people are no where near as bad as adults when it comes to obscene posting and if most parents knew some of the things that were said or posted over chat channels or voice comms in the vast percentage of online games they'd ban their kids from the internet permanently. I for one welcome younger players as long as they follow the standards and rules of the forums.

Age, gender, religion, colour, sexual orientation, nationality or bubble-gum flavour should never be used as a reason for someone not to play and, more importantly, enjoy a game.

Another positive bonus for getting younger people into the game: It might just inspire some of these young ones to be our future astronomers and astronauts. I know it has rekindled my interest in the universe, but I'm starting to become too old to pursue that field.

I use an equal mix of Vodka and Gin but tonight it will be strictly Vodka because I'm out of Gin and the store is almost a 1/4 mile away. Way to far to drive in a reasonable time frame. That would take up at least a half hour of time. Time that I could be killing Kerbals. I mean building rockets.

I'm actually quite partial to Canadian whisky and ginger ale. In fact, maybe that's what I will have tonight for the experiment. I guess I should only do unmanned missions.

30 mins for a 1/4 mile? Do you drive a dead cow or something?
