You can replace the root pod without starting over!

I just discovered that you can now swap the first pod you choose in and out like any other part in the SPH (and probably the VAB), without rebuilding the rocket from scratch.

That was a major headache before, so I just wanted to say kudos to Squad for putting the effort in to fix this

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to fly an improbably large rover to the moon

You don't even need a pod! You can start your rocket with most pieces.

I find this to work very conveniently with the subassembly loader:

- Use decoupler as root part.

- Plop lifter subassembly below.

- Plop payload subassembly above.

- (Check you have sufficient delta-v for your intended mission.)

- Liftoff!

Not having to include a pod as root part definitely makes assembling easier.
