KSP Noob Shows his SSTO's

Recommended Posts

Hello KSP Community,

I'm fairly new to KSP and want to show you some of my SSTO creations here.

First of, please dont expect flawless grammar because my first language is not english, I'm from Germany btw.

so here are my first two SSTO's i ever made tell me what you think please.

This is my first SSTO its fairly stable and SSTOs fast nothing too special

This is my sceond SSTO in 3rd itteration its very fast and fuel efficient, best way to orbit with it is get to about 2000m/s before intakes runout at about 25000m altitude you want to use the atomic engine as less as possible while still in atmosphere, if you do it right you will have about 2/3 of fuel left thats enough to orbit Mün and go back to Kerbal.

Wow i can tell you are a n00b from just glimpsing at your SSTO's.

1.You do not know about part clipping

2.The intakes you use are not the best choice, there are btter ones the smae size.

3.Your picture quality is terrible.

4.You do know about center ofm ass and lift, right????

5.Real men make SSTO's dockable and VTOL capable!

Comments like this make newbs feel alienated, this happened to me all the time on this forum.

Great start! But like he said, make sure you are looking at the center of mass and the center of lift!

That second SSTO just uses a NERVA engine? Get some air intakes and some jet engines on there and save yourself the Oxidizer for the high altitude burns. The ISP on those NERVA engines are so low when you're in the atmosphere, you'll be doing yourself a favour by changing them. :)

Actually, you are the one looking like a noob right now. He used part clipping quite proficiently to hide the intakes and the jets. In fact, he exploits airhogging for all it's worth, according to the posts. IMO, a very impressive first post in the spacecraft exchange, if one of the SSTO's can make it to Mun orbit and back.

Sure, he may not know that ram intakes are much better than the others. But nobody is born learned, and there are better ways to point that out.

Rune. Good job, erik, keep them coming!
