Action Groups: Stage?

In about 7 months of game i never understand how to use it... Someone could explain to me?

It activates something when you stage, like: Extend solar panels when you stage the first time.

So it's referred to the firt stage after lift off?

Just whenever you press space bar. You could have an RTG activate in the 2nd stage and 4th, but not 1st and 3rd.

I have never found a use for it. It would be great if you could use it to plan actions at a particular stage (like extending the solar panels on stage 3), but you can't.

Sometimes the Lower Gears action it does not work when is set up from a number key instead of the "G"

Is normal or I am doing something wrong?
