llamatoes
I was wondering, since I want to get a flag on eve with a small amount of hardware used, will a Kerbal dropped on a seat mounted to an RCS Tank, to deorbit him, would he survive?
georgTF
Shame you cant tack a chute onto him.
xandski
There's one way to find out if he'll survive...And fraps to make sure that everyone sees the success
Uocjat
I haven't tried messing around with it too much in 0.20 so I don't know if there's been any changes in that departmentbut back in 0.19.1 Kerbals were pretty darn sturdy if they landed correctly never quite figured it out exactly but landing on your feet going at a >45 degrees angel relative to the surface tends to have the highest survival rateI managed to make Jeb deorbit and "land safely" from a 100km orbit around Kerbin using only his EVA suit while I was just mocking about gathering footage of random sillinessI don't know about Eve but a denser atmosphere would mean that you slow down much faster but then higher gravity means your impact is amplified but unless its massively changed in 0.20 I think it might just be doable
lukerules117
really high if they land on their head.
SolarLiner
make him land on his head. Although I have not testes on 0.20, it appears to be the best landing method hen nothing else is possible.
karolk
Sometimes they glitch out when falling from 1 meter height and die, others survive EVA deorbits. Basically it's a matter of luck. If you want to use a parachute with a kerbal in a seat you have to use a drogue with a fairly heavy payload so the G force when the chute opens won't knock the pilot out of his seat. I learned it the hard way
Kodiak42
Land headfirst, since Eve has an atmosphere, it will have a terminal velocity, I've seen plenty of successful EVA Headfirst Lithobreakings on Kerbin, so I;m guessing eve will work similarly, you just have to calculate/look up the terminal velocity of Eve and make sure that it is similar to Kerbin's or less than Kerbin's, and you're good to go headfirst into the ground. However, this EVA Headfirst Lithobreaking is far less effective if you are landing in water, which you will most likely die horribly as logic starts to make sense.
