As a note, the weight specs on NASA EVA suits and maneuvering units:

Suits:

Apollo A7L (Apollo 7-14): 62 pounds IVA suit plus 14 pounds EVA covering plus 124 pounds PLSS backpack for total weight 200 pounds

Apollo A7LB (Apollo 15-17, Skylab, ASTP): 64.6 pounds IVA suit plus 13.4 pounds EVA covering plus 134 pounds PLSS backpack for total 212 pounds

(Note PLSS backpacks only used on CDR/LMP suits and only during independent operations, i.e., lunar EVA or emergency transfer from LM to CM; not carried on Apollo 7-8, Skylab, and ASTP missions)

Shuttle EMU: 109 pounds suit plus 145 pounds backpack for total 254 pounds

Shuttle Enhanced EMU: 122 pounds suit plus 153 pounds backpack for total 275 pounds

ISS Enhanced EMU: 122 pounds suit plus 197 pounds backpack for total 319 pounds

RCS Jetpacks:

Shuttle MMU: 326 pounds (max delta-V 24.4 m/s)

Shuttle/ISS SAFER self-rescue unit: 83 lb (max delta-V 3 m/s)

So having the Kerbal space suit and RCS pack weigh twice what a Kerbal does is, if anything, a bit light compared to reality, since it's nearest equivalent (the EMU/MMU combination) would weigh a total of 580 pounds, about *three* times that of its occupant...
