how do I get my joystick to work in game?

Hello all I am new to the Kerbal game and I am loving it allot with the abilitys to build the way one wants, Just awsom. I am runing wondows 7, I have a Saitek X52 joystick that I am trying to use, I can bind buttons but not the stick its self or the throttle in flight or binding them to the game ether, dose aneyone know how to fix this please aney help would be awsom. :)

The x52 should work fine, provided you have the drivers working properly, and aren't running a weird profile that remaps the axis to keypresses or something.

If you check your settings, under input, alongside the keybindings, there's axis assignments for the joysticks. Click on the assign button and move the axis you want. There's no dropdowns or anything. One thing to note is that there's multiple flight modes in the game, so if you map the joystick for the Staging mode (which is used for most of the time in flight) you will need to reassign all the axis for the Docking Mode as well. (And perhaps others).

And you'll probably need to invert the throttle axis.

Other than that, if something isn't working then we'll probably need more details about it is that you're trying to do.
