help with orbiting

i can orbit but i have a problem by the time i get my periapsis over 70000 i am usually at my periapsis thus my apogee is very high and i waste fuel fixing it is there any trick that i can employ to stop this?

From what i understand you are burning when you egt to your apoapsis then since your engine are not too powerful your burn ends at your periapsis hence an "egg" orbit

There is a way to prevent this, 1) use more powerful engines, skippers are good for this. 2) set up a manuver node at your apoapsis and put half your burn on the raising side on the other half on the falling side.

Are you doing a very early gravity turn with low thrust engines? Try turning later, perhaps at 15km and try and design your rocket so that you have a enough thrust to really pick up speed as you rise above 20km.
