[WIP][1.1.3] Large Structural/Station Components [Image Heavy]

Recommended Posts

Yeah sure. Ill edit this post when I've got the info for you.

Edit: You don't need a totally "serious-business" one. Just a line or so in the OP explaining what you'll allow people to do with your parts in terms of redistribution of your files and config edits and whatnot. --> Info from DYJ.

This is totally OCD talking, but can you either remove the ladders on the tunnel or make them go along the whole thing? I keep having to put 2 of the small ladders between them and it is hurting my part count (my computer isn't the best). Also, would it be possible to make the windows light up like the B9 windows or is that too much work? Just a request.

Otherwise, these are fantastic :)

Hey, I will give that part a full ladder at some point over the weekend.

As for the window lighting, I can give that a go too.

Update:

- The Large Structural Corridor and Large Observation Window now have window lighting. These parts will not light other parts, however they will look like a light is on inside.

Warning: These parts now have power consumption, they draw at the rates of -0.125 and -0.25. Make sure your craft have ample power.

Download has been updated, found in the original post.

Thank you for making these. I had to double-check the time-frame of this thread, impressively fast work considering the quality here.

A request: now that some of your parts are using electricity, it would be great to have a battery in the same style. Maybe it could attach unobtrusively on the outside. The look of the batteries available in Kerbal has always been something to work around when ship-building, imho.

There is a mod that makes 2.5m batteries... I think it is the Kerbal X parts or something like that... Its the one that originally had the capola and skipper engine that was incorporated into stock.

that would be the KSPX parts pack, IIRC it is now being maintained by KasperVid and he updated it to be compatible with the 0.20.X "GameData" system. The version on KerbalSpacePort is compatible with KSP 0.18.x-0.19.x and still uses the old "KSP_win/Parts" system.

I was wondering if the quantum struts mod you have works in .20?

I can't seem to find it anywhere. if you can tell me where it is I would be so grateful, oh and I love the 6 way connector piece you made, because now its one part for the 2.5 m pieces, instead of the smaller one with all the adapters!

Yep the Quantum Struts have been updated for .20. Here's the link to the SpacePort for it: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/quantum-strut/

This is nice idea. I'll create a radial and in line battery today as well as a large generator.

In my constant attempts to get the part count of my stations down, the one thing I'm always looking for is a 2.5m inline battery+backup generator unit, equivalent to at least 4 stock RTGs and a 2.5m KSPX battery of 1000 units. One would be enough for a station, longer stacks would work for building electric vehicles or kethane refineries.

I'm never finding anything quite like that for some reason.

I second that :) Some of my more outrageous designs of interplanetary ships suffer from this problem too. And they do look like startled hedgehogs, with solar panels sticking in all directions. Such part would be a huge improvement.

It's kinda creepy how fast you can dish out parts. :D None-the-less, excellent work! I've gotten a ton of use out of the tabs for the struts.

Any chances you have a planet colonization pack in the works? Would love to see the designs you come up with!

I actually have plugin plans for Orbital Factories and Micro-management, such as distributing power to different connected services... which is where these parts will come in handy.
