disable / replace timewarp : possible ?

Hi there,

i can't have a look at current API yet (but will look into this when back home), but do you guys here think this would be possible :

1. detect when user wants to enable/increase timewarp

2. replace timewarp effects on local simulation time by something else ?

* That "something else" would be some sort of "artificially increased lightspeed straight warp" from position when warp was initiated to a choosen destination.

* Initiating this new warp would require 2 or three realtime minutes to really engage it (for extra reasons)

3. detect / replace timewarp decrease/shutdown to do an emergency lightspeed warp shutdown, instantly restoring initial speed, getting the ship at calculated destination (taking that artificially increased light speed and direction from starting point to choosen destination).

I won't give the full details here yet, cause the topic looks kinda "hot" here, but i think this could lead to some interesting features.

Any comment on the existing timewarp feature replacement possibility ?

If you're developing warp engines (which seem likely), then you might wanna look at HyperEdit. Considering this moves things from current location to anywhere you want, warp engines seem a little pointless. Especially when its a "hot" topic.
