Is it normal for objects in Munar orbit to constantly rotate so I can't dock?

umm yep ASAS actually does use the torque wheels.. have a pod with an ASAS module, turn SAS on then point it in a different direction and it'll go back to original heading. SAS only stops rotation, ASAS maintains a heading.

Okay, so the post was only wrong in two ways, not three.

I just had a strange thing happen to me tonight while in orbit over Vall. I placed my orbiter with docking port pointing North and ASAS on before making a landing at a certain site.

On my approach My ship started gyrating. Not too terrible but it was behaving as if the fuel was out of balance, which it was not. I checked. As I got closer to ground it subsided and resumed normal control.

Later as I launched to re-dock with the orbiter I switched ships to verify that it was still facing north which it was. ASAS still on. Switched back to my lander and continued to close in.

Once I got to within ~200m or so, as I was attempting to line up with the docking port at 0.5m/s. The orbiter started rotating away from me!

I tried to compensate by adding more RCS but once I exceeded 3m/s I knew something was wrong so I hit F5 to try again. Making sure, just as before, the orbiter was stable. Once again it started pulling away just like before! :twisted evil: Now I have un-docked and re-docked previously over Pol without any problems. This time I quit out and reloaded. Docked without any problems. What gives? Was it the Space Kraken? Was it that certain site on the surface? I didn't think those things actually did anything but know I'm not so sure.

Hmm, it probably is related to parts tugging against each other, even without deliberate part clipping. All of my problematic craft either had things crammed inside other parts (usually i'd hide the probe core or battery ring) or lazily connected struts. "Clean" designs never experienced such problems.

I also managed to bork a docking port by stashing junk inside it. Not only was there phantom spin, i also couldn't get the undock/decouple node options to show up.
