I... have figured out how to make. A BOAT! dun dun dun.

Unfortunately It is not very good. I have been working on the boat for a while. The problem is that there are no fluid dynamics, which I totally get. The problem is that water acts similar to a squishy ground. The max speed I've gotten to is about 3m/s. While slow I feel it is a good first step. I have tried several other versions I feel the best one to upload to the public to work on is my second version.

Here are some tips for getting it to the water.

1. get off the runway as soon as possible

2. when near the water slow down to 10 m/s

3. Do not activate engines until you are in the water.

4. Have fun!

Now make an orbiter that lands in the water, acts as a boat, and henceforth returns to the space center.

How about a hydrofoil?

Yeah, having the base of a craft in water really kills the speed.

As sapphire said, Hydrofoils.

I've been using them in race "boats" and water planes.

Heres the max speed of my race "boat", bout 5m/s after that, the nose will go too deep and disintegrate the craft

The original thread had some fantastic entries and really pushed the speed envelope on water.

For me I always make boats with rover wheels because I think they seem to have more buoyancy than normal parts. (or i'm completely and totally wrong! )
