Is there a way to change a ship that is flying to a ship i just made?

Recommended Posts

Ok, no wthat i know how to renzdevous+dock (well i went really close but i pressed a wrong button and that is why the question is here)

I have something in space that is not very good structurarly (rcs a decouple and docking port for the docking with the otehr part of the station) this means that when i decouple close to the docking port so that i dock i can only rotate and not translate which is impossible because i cannot move just rotate!

So is there a way to change a current ship in the air (lets sya they have the same names) so that i fix that on the spot on the vehicle builder and it has changed in mid-air (orbit) i wish taht is possible because it reaally is getting annoying (AFter loads of time trying to do a correct rendezvous

No, I'm afraid not. Don't think you can even do that with the cheat console.

But, don't despair. This very thing has happened to all of us, or something similar. People ending mission once they get their station up and such. Ooops!

I'm sure if we each had a dollar for every time a story like this surfaces, we could all retire in comfort and play KSP 'till the cows come home.

Just happened to me the other day. Spent all day modifying my heavy lift package to get my first space station in orbit. Worked on the proper ascent profile, and finally, I did it!

Only problem was I forgot a few things on the station. :)

Not much you can do there but go back to the drawing board. But the good news is, all of that practicing I did was internalized and I got the modified one right back up there!

However, after you make the changes, I do believe it is possible to use a cheat to get back in to orbit. I don't use the console, never even looked at whack a Kerbal! So, someone else can help you with that.

I say, just launch again!

I you are trying to learn docking, I seriously recommend to do it all over again with a new craft that incorporates what you learned from the previous one. Seriously, practice makes perfection. You might be daunted by having to do another rendezvous... but by the time you have done 50, it's mostly routine.

Oh, and to answer the actual question, you could edit the savefile to do it, and as far as I know that is the only way. Look up the link to the video by Scott Manley posted earlier. But be ready to handle "code" on a HUGE text file... That may or might not ruin your savefile.

Rune. There's no magic way to infuse knowledge, you just have to fail a lot to gain it.
