If the Kerbol System replaced Alpha Centauri

What would your thoughts be? Any missions there (if we are even gonna be alive by then)? How will the Kerbal Race react to a Human-made object enter their system?

Voyager is not heading anywhere near Alpha Centauri, and even if it did it would need tens of thousands of years to get there...

But like I said, if we are even gonna be alive by then, not right now. Because, I think Jool would be a cool planet for NASA to look at.

Think about it, by the time that any of our probes could get there, we would have:

A. died

B. died

C. forgot they existed, as the signals would take equally long to return, and no guarentee of earth's position then.(Or we died)

And what do you think if NASA Were to discover the Kerbol system IRL (if it replaced Alpha centauri), and see that Kerbin or Laythe are the nearest earth-like bodies, and Eve could be an interesting place.

That would be hilarious, just imagine, when the James Webb telescope gets launched and we see little green men trying to get places on a blue-green world... That would make my day.

The change in astrophysics and aerodynamics would certainly be surprising.

Well, it would cause a huge ruckus, because...well...you got a habitable planet only four-light years away. Interest in interstellar space flight will obviously increase, and NASA, ESA, Roscosmos, and JAXA would probably be pressurized to start planning a manned mission, private ventures called Kerbin One would spring up, and Barack Obama would call Mars a "stepping stone to Kerbin", and endorse the idea of a colony in fifty years.

So, here's a list.

• Kerbin One plans to build a colony on Kerbin by 2050.

• NASA gets its budget tripled in size, and goes to build a Moonbase by 2018, and a Mars Mission by 2020. Then, it goes to the Jovian System by 2030, Saturian by 2045, and rushes to interstellar space with its new acclubierre drive with plasma engines (The research teams funds got quadrupled.) by 2060. Kerbin is reached by 2067, and a colony is built by 2070.

• Barack Obama calls Mars a "stepping stone" to Alpha Centauri. Noone really cares about Mars anymore.

• Robert Zubrin makes a new plan called Kerbin Direct.

Humanity goes interstellar. Kerbin becomes the new Mars. It becomes the future home for humanity.

Meanwhile, in Kerbin.

"OMG, we found this awesome new planet called Errth! Errth! Errth! Errth! Errth!"

But yeah, alpha centauri isn't -that- far away. it's "only" 4 1/2 light years away.
