Trial and Error

So I just downloaded the demo for this after watching some of Kurtjmac's Let's Play's, and I have to say NASA makes this seem easy by comparison. I am going to try and get a handle on the mechanics on orbiting, and engineering aspects. Is there any suggestions from the lot of you that you can give me when building my first rocket?

Well, you say rocket, but just to make sure, spaceplanes are not the easier solution.

I've gone many places and STILL don't know how to make a proper spaceplane.

For rockets, I find the easiest way to make a rocket is with the "asparagus effect" staging.'

I STILL use that on almost every rocket I make. Unless I'm feeling a little rebellious.
