Some Minor Rocket Issues

Recommended Posts

So, I got my Lifter working with a 349,5 Ton payload just fine, but I had some Delta-V left, so I decided to test it with an even bigger Payload (421,5 Tons to be precise). But then something wierd started to happen. All kinds of Parts got structural Failures, even while I had Unbreakable Joints turned on. This may be because I get around 2-3 FpS while launching this beast, but until now it worked fine. After a day of testing I coud not get it to work, so I decided to ask the community for help.

This is the rocket with the heaviest Payload I got to work attached (Currently unstruted, but this picture will give you an idea)

But now regardingles of what I do this thing keeps getting structural failures:(

So, maybe some of you are able to help me (Maybe also to get the Partcount down, currently it has nearly 900 Parts)

.craft File

Also the Craft is completly Stock, as I have removed the Payload from this one, I just used the Spherical Fuel tanks for Payloads. You can attach any Payload you want, as long as it does not exceed 350 tons The Rocket should not fall appart.

I did not want to Upload the Rocket with a Payload attached, since this would require several mods to load.

With hundreds of tons of payload, you're going to need a significant number of struts. Just keep strutting everything to everything else until it stops breaking. Especially strut tanks which are vertically connected to eachother, and strut anything capable of producing torque to the pod, or controlling part whatever it may be. But remember, 400 ton payloads are practically the limit of KSP. You're going to need a Ph.D. in struts, the fastest computer money can buy, and a lot of luck :)

Oh, I got 400t in payload to work. See here.

But it seems as if the amount of struts needed is rising exponentially with each ton I add to my vehicle :(

Sadly my rig is close to giving up now, even though it is quite strong (CPU overclocked to 4.3 GHz..)
