A few command pod torque questions

Recommended Posts

Aerotech Industries is back in operation after the forum crash. I'm back to building huge spaceships and all the trouble associated with them.

Is the mk1-2 still the best choice?

Do extra command pods help increase the torque?

If so, do unmanned command pods still help to increase the torque?

In reality the pods should be mounted near the edges of the ship to maximize leverage, is this true in game?

Does electricity have any affect on command pod torque?

Does Mechjeb use the command pods in the same way as the ASAS?

How many command pods would you use for a ~200t strike carrier?

Judging by "rotPower" to mass, the best option for additional torque is still the smallest octo probe body (.5 / .04t = 12,5 rot power per ton) with second being the new 1man lander (5 / 0.6t = 8,33 rot power per ton)

The mk1-2 has rot power per ton of 5. If you want large amount's of rot power per part, then the new cupola has 30, making it 6,66 rot power per ton.

Yes the additional parts that have torque add it to controls as long as they are powered (command pods don't need to be manned). Note that doesn't include ASAS and SAS modules as they are merely an automated control systems that use what's available on the craft.

I'm not sure about the "linPower" present in .craft file for command modules but i didn't find any difference in torque based on position of the module (it would mean that they add only torque to the ship), might be wrong thou.

On the mechjeb question, i think yes. Avionics cone is probably only control element that doesn't use torque from parts.
