Multi refueler advice?

I'm making a refueler, and after a serious redesign I am trying have 8 small 'broodlings' (tanks) or 4 medium ones.

What type of refueling craft is that? Is that a "station-type" (i.e, spacecrafts dock on it and it stays in orbit) or the "tanker-type" (i.e, it docks on spacecrafts and de-orbits after use)?

It looks like he wants to send parts of this station off to dock with smaller vessels.

I'm not sure what the question is, but it does seem a rather inefficient way of accomplishing the refueling task, unless the tanks are meant to remain attached to the vessels they're fueling. Multiple smaller redezvous will take more time than just one bigger one.

Personally I just think that's unnecessary. I'd stick with just one large tanker, which you can send up to rendezvous with a very large ship or station in orbit to fill it up at once, and then use it as a fuel depot for smaller ships to come to it. You're adding extra steps and layers of complication to the process.

If you can do it, one big tank is better than many small ones. That way you only have to click on one tank to transfer fuel, not many .
