command seat and rovers

I built a rover, that is doubling as a mobile Kethane fuel truck and transfer vehicle. Just for giggles i put a command seat on it, with the idea that a kerbal could take it out for a spin when his bored mining for kethane.

The seat is high enough off the ground that a extendable ladder is needed. But i cannot figure out for a way to get the kerbal from the ladder to the seat. Usually he reaches the top of the ladder and falls down, or stops going up because the seat is in the way

help or suggestions appreciated

Have you tried right-clicking the seat?
