Texturing in 3ds max 2011

Recommended Posts

About 3DS Max, have anyone successfully imported one of the default parts in 3DS Max? It's crashing for me at import...

Make sure nothing is selected and any models you do have in the scene already are not named 'model' and 'node_collision' otherwise odd things occur.

I'm trying with a entirely empty scene without anything in it. Still crashing at import.

I can important any .dae file, stock or not. Perhaps you might consider upgrading to 3ds max 2012?

And after all that you have a texturable file.

Hello chaps.

Even after following a lot of on-line tuts I am running into problems trying to unwrap a cylinder object into something that isnt just a load of faces positioned randomly around the screen!

What is the best way to unwrap a cylinder object (think fuel tank!). Cannot link a SShot as in work :(

Cheers

Cylindrical projection is your best bet. It creates a straight seam down the side and just straightens out the model like a piece of paper. Generally no distortion.
