Tri/Di-Coupler dont hold things... ?

Recommended Posts

HI crazy Kerbal fans ! :sticktongue:

I have big problem and i if it a bug or i am doing something wrong.

I am contructing on orbit big imterplanetary ship driven by 2xNERVA and 15xIon engines.

For that i want to put 3x15 or 4x15 xenon tanks but tri/di-Couplers dont hold things when are mounted from top over ready structure ..... ?

I noticed that any tri or di coupler when is mounted from top hold only one thing and nothing else - is ti a bug ?

Here is picture of bad working di coupler and one from constriction

This is just how crafts in KSP work. A part can only have one parent, so bi-/tri-couplers only connect to one of the existing nodes.

What you can do, however, is placing docking ports on all coupler-nodes and all existing nodes. Once again, only one will connect in the VAB, but the magnetic forces will hold it together during flight.

So say a tri-coupler up against another tri-coupler will have 3 X the strength of a single one and they all will connect in actual flight? I'm thinking of doing the same thing as Zbik as far as a large interplanetary ship, but I'm concerned with alignment with using the new senior ports.

Thank you for answer , and idea about docking ports. :D
