So I broke down and finally got sucked into the Kethane trade.

After a 12 hours marathon of design multi duna trips and some of the most bizarre dock I have ever tried gave me this.

Finally assembled (23 pieces of kit and debris sharing that orbit including 3 prevous attempts partially built and very damaged)

That is a lot of parachutes. Using the blimp bits from Hooligan really is the only reason I was finally able to land. As a side effect I discovered that when I was light on Kethane and fuel the air bags were enough to get a little lift and move the whole rig around (hence the propellers, got it up to 35 as long as my altitude is below 2k, above that the atmo doesn't seem to support the wieght)

A Munar ecplisle interfered with my day here. (All system shut down and I forgot about the nuclear engine. Spun around a hundred times trying to find the sun and figure out what I did wrong with the solar cells until I saw the sun pop out from behind Ike.)

Fully operational. With three large kathane tanks, two big drilles with matched convertors, the HOME conversion HAB for backup, A KAS transfer system, and space for a full crew of 13 kerbals. I think I have it fixed up.

Next part of the plan will be a heavy carrier fuel transport for shuttling the goods to launch vehickles.

I figured Duna would be a good choice for the effort. I can use Ike is a main fueling station for jumps to the outer systerm.

So things to do.

1) heavy carrier to transpport fuels to launch vehickles

2) reusasble launch vehickles for burning the goods from Duna surface to Ike orbit

3) Ship assembly and fueling array in orbit around Ike

4) interplanetary fuel tug for use between duna and a Jool outpost

Anyone else got a set of rigs they wanna share to give me hope it is all possible.

Ok the run down...

All parts were taken to Duna

1) Center pylon (remeber kethane tanks ship empty to save a TONNE of wait.. actually I think it 8 tonnes). This took a medium two stager to get to kerbin orbit and a duel nuclear to get to duna and parked.

2) left a right pylons (the habitats connects with the triangular structures) actually launched each with light lift units to kerbin and the dual nuclear to duna.

3) drilling unit light lifter

4) 2x empty kethane tanks ... light lifter

5) HOME power and air converters pylon this took a heavier first stage than anything else but still not one of my heavys.

So a total of six flights (not including replacement parts I had to take to duna when coupling things together went horribly wrong) add in a refueling flight( this was a heavy) and then the half stack grey rocko fuel pack I used for the powered descent.

It will all be worth it once I get the fueling station in Orbit around Ike and can stage my jool and eelo trips from there

Basically I figured if I am going to go to the effort of running the Kethae mod I might as well get all I can from it
