Mun Base & Orbiting Fuel Depots

Recommended Posts

Finally put up some structures I thought were worth a look so I thought I'd share them. The first is my Mun base comprised of 10 separate pieces & the 2 rovers I used to help assemble it all (wanted to avoid having wheels on the base components). There's plenty of space to add additional components but I'll have to see how the frame rate goes. Also, I thought next to the arch would be a good spot for a station, but it's on a slope so it's sometimes a bit awkward to get pieces to dock.

Next are my orbital refueling depots, so far one around Kerbin, one around the Mun and one around Minmus. Next step is to add some reusable landers/shuttles onto the extra docking ports and possibly (they're all stock for now) get some Kethane mining going. Or possibly to get an equivalent refueling depot around some of the outer planets, although I imagine that could be rough. I assembled the Mun depot around Kerbin and then sent the whole thing to the Mun (that was dumb), but assembled the Minmus depot on location and that was far easier. Live and learn I guess.

Thoughts on what to do next? Or let me know if anybody is interested and I can try to figure out how to put up some craft files.

whoa... went a bit crazy with the part counts now did we?

Meh - they're not too bad. The full moon base is only 332 parts.

The kerbin depot is 430 parts, Mun depot is 246 and Minmus depot is 207. You can tell that I got better at building as I went since they got smaller with similar fuel capacities as I went and learned lessons from the previous ones.

Maybe my computer's just decent but anything under 500 parts runs fine for me.
