CFG Changing

Recommended Posts

I am confused on how to change the fuel consumption and isp in the part config files. The wiki has what I think to be old information. I want to look at fuel consumtion to make minor adjustments to make the KerbX Falcon 9 support my habitation module into a 200km orbit until the Falcon Heavy comes.

You can try using this mod:

http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/0-19-x-tweakable-parameters-v2/

(i didn't use it myself but i think it would have what you look for)

Or doing it manually

search for "atmosphereCurve" of engine in part.cfg

Then at "key = " first number indicates atmosphere density (0 being vacuum 1 being sea level) and second is ISP of the engine at given atmosphere density (altitude).

Remembering that fuel consumption is based on ISP and thrust you can do simple math to find it:

Thrust / ISP / 9,81 will give you fuel mass per second in tons (as shown in right click menu in flight) ie: for LV-T30 215/320/9,81=0,06848 [t/s] fuel per second at sea level.

I tried tweakable parameters but it was too buggy and made my engines explode on launch. I thank you so much for the useful info I may be starting a youtube series about my "missions" and it would have been silly using a SpaceX style launcher for small payloads and using a " ghetto" launcher for the kerbals.
