Single launch to Laythe

Recommended Posts

I have an SSTO Rocket that can get there I think. It was designed as a 100% reusable MunShuttle. It serves that purpose well. It takes one kerbal to the Mun and back to KSP on one fill up. It has 3300m/s of fuel left once it's in 100km circular orbit. Last time I went to Laythe, it cost me about 2300m/s to get circular around it. I didn't use aero-capture and I didn't land. Hmm what is the atmosphere on Laythe? Can I use jet engines on Laythe? If I cant, I can't land then, because I use the jet engines under chute to land softly at KSP.

This isnt a real 'challenge'. With just 2 months of knowing about KSP I flew a rocket to Laythe without refueling, without orbital docking to refuel, to land on Laythe with a lander, a rover and -2- spaceplanes (wanted to keep the rocket balanced). Both planes flew excellent and the kerbal went home after a mission of 6 months leaving the planes behind.

No 'megalomania missile' nothing special. Just nuclear engines and some fuel and a lander.

Gonna try this tomorrow with an ssto, hopefully back too!

EDIT: Hmm, no mechjeb, Ill give it a go, but if I can't make it it will be mechjeb assisted, not that I need mechjeb, but it makes low altitude handling of intakes nicer.
