I realise this might be a stupid question but i felt brave enough to ask it, what are they for? And will there be other stats in the future?

I think it's for when Kerbals will be able to pilot craft themselves, and when Kerbals can gain skill(s) based on experience. All it seems to do for now is just determine when certain emotions happen (I think).

I'm not certain about that, but the facial expressions seem to be tied to them, since (as you've probably seen in the past) Jeb gets much less freaked out than Bob, who gets much less freaked out that Bill.

i once left Jebediah in orbit around Kerbin for four and a half years, i had sent a probe to Jool and forgot to bring him down, when i went to see him he had the biggest unhappy face i ever seen, maybe they have advanced AI.

Oh, that would be the coolest thing ever Or most cruel, knowing some individuals here: yes, kerbal-rocket-engine-cannon crowd - i'm looking at you I really hope devs will make Kerbals so important, no one will let one die without regret.

They've been part of the persistence file thing that defines the kerbals' personality for quite awhile, I think.

In my defence, I offered the kerbals I fired out of cannons parachutes, but they don't always take them...
