xeranes
Okay... I can get to the Mun no problem, but getting back is proving problematic... can anyone provide an orbit diagram with the transfers or another method?
Jarnis
Burn away from the Mun until you leave its sphere of influence. Aim at Kerbin or bit 'left' of Kerbin (against the direction the moon is travelling) and once you are about 1000km away from the moon, you\'ll end up in orbit around Kerbin. Deorbit burn at apoapsis, splash, profit.
Melfice
Simply put: Go into orbit around the Mün, and then madly increase the apoapsis towards Kerbin.By the time you\'ve reached the apoapsis, you\'ll be caught in Kerbin\'s gravity, and by then it\'s a matter of decreasing speed to create an orbit around, or fly directly at Kerbin. thorfinn
Simply put: Go into orbit around the Mün, and then madly increase the apoapsis towards Kerbin. That will put you in a large Kerbin orbit, though, and coming down from that will take lots of fuel.It\'s better to escape in the opposite direction from the Mun\'s travel (you want to go left, when seeing the orbit from outside). This way, you end up with a much smaller Kerbin-relative velocity.
Bureaucromancer
Well, the ideal if you\'re trying to save fuel is to put yourself directly into a large Kerbin orbit with the periapsis (apoapsis from the Munar perspective) in the atmosphere and re-enter directly.
