Stacking Tanks

Recommended Posts

it seems that radial tanks will not stack properly. I have a center column of tanks, with 6 detachables around the edge. But if I try to stack on top of those 6, the new tanks just stick to the middle column, usually perpendicular to the detachable tanks. what do?

Just play around with the cursor and putting it in different spots. It can be tricky to find where they will attach to the tanks below, but there is a place. I just find it on habit now, but IIRC if you place your cursor a bit above one of the lower tanks you'll get the option to stack.

Remember struts! The decouplers alone are not enough to hold it together, but you'll figure that out pretty quick either way.

Try to turn your camera so that you're looking at the attachment point from the side, not from above or below. Also make sure there's as little as possible behind the attachment point from your point of view. Both makes it easier to attach things correctly. I can't attach docking ports anywhere, unless I'm looking at the attachment point from a 90 degree angle!

The snap can be flaky at times. You also have to watch that the first set snaps to the decoupler and not the center tank. Sometimes, it becomes necessary to stack the outer column one tank at a time.
